The Start of System Management

But, over time, Macs started to become more popular. We can attribute the resurgence to form factor, design, ease of use, and the iPhone. All of these factors helped Macs infiltrate the enterprise. Microsoft didn’t create their solutions to work well with competing platforms, so when Macs initially entered organizations, IT admins just let them be. End users were responsible for managing their systems. Macs weren’t connected to the domain or Active Directory, and they weren’t a part of any management solution. All of this meant that the end user was in charge of making sure it was up-to-date and secure.
Now, with Macs making up a large percentage of the overall IT infrastructure, the BYOD or unmanaged approach doesn’t work. IT admins want to actively manage and control their Mac fleet. Unfortunately, the most popular IT management tools such as AD and SCCM aren’t really tailored to Macs. So, finding Mac management solutions became important. But, it’s no longer enough to have one tool managing Macs, another to manage Windows, and a third to manage Linux systems. How to map a WD network drive on a Mac
In order to access and store data after setting up a WD NAS, such as: My Book Live or My Book Live Duo, My Cloud (Single Bay), My Cloud Mirror (Gen 2),My Cloud EX2 Ultra, My Cloud EX4, My Cloud EX2100 and My Cloud EX4100, My Cloud DL2100 and My Cloud DL4100 , My Cloud PR2100 and My Cloud PR4100(Multi Bay) NAS it’s best to map the network drive to one or more of the default shares.

- In Finder, Click on Go in the menubar and Select Connect to Server or press ( command + K ) from keyboard
- Enter smb://devicename ( smb://wdmycloude ) and click on Connect
Note: If the mycloud device was renamed during the setup, enter “smb://newdevicename” (where newdevicename is the name the device was given)
3. Choose the radio button Registered User and enter the Name and Password of the user with access rights to the particular share to be mapped
4. Choose a share on the drive and Click on OK
